Jared Sloger: artwork for "The Fairy's Ruby Cage"

I'd like to introduce Jared Sloger, a talented Christian artist. He was recommended to me by author Eric Reinhold (Eric's second fantasy novel).

Jared Sloger is a freelance illustrator and concept artist. He currently lives in Nebraska and graduated from Metropolitan Community College with a degree in professional studies geared towards graphic arts. He is self taught in his art and works in various traditional and digital mediums. He specializes in science fiction, fantasy, wildlife and creature art. When he isn’t working on projects, he makes frequent trips to the zoo, photographing, and, sketching the animals.

Jared has been commissioned by Flaming Pen Press to illustrate THE FAIRY'S RUBY CAGE (the upcoming fantasy novella to be released in Spring 2010). He just sent me the preliminary pieces . . . and I decided to share some of them with you . . . just to whet your appetites!

Make sure to check out his website: http://www.jaredsloger.com/

WELCOME TO THE WRITING SITE OF SCOTT APPLETON

"Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones." -Proverbs 16:24

In a world where morality is forsaken and Christ neglected, wholesome books are uncommon. The themes of my writing are love, self-sacrifice, and honor.

I see my generation turning from God to the gods of this world. I see homes torn apart in the pursuit of pleasure and self-gratification. Children are murdered by the millions every year . . . without ever seeing the world outside their mothers' wombs. Through fiction I strive to encourage those who are willing, to stand against these things and be heroes and heroines; chivalrous, gentle, full of righteous indignation, and the fear and love of their Creator.
