My Stay at the Davis's

It's my last night at the Davis's. I'm excited about meeting with the publisher, tomorrow, but I cannot help feeling sad at leaving. Bryan and his family have been wonderful. He treated me out for lunch at a local restaurant, critiqued and showed me how to improve my writing. He spent a lot of time with me that he was in no way obligated to. Our daily conversations about spiritual things has my gears turning on the subject of living a holy life. I have been greatly blessed by the godly atmosphere here.

Thanks to Mrs. Davis, Legossi, and R. I had home-cooked meals. Such a refreshing change for this lengthy trip. I'm going to miss all of them.

I got to ride one of their horses. That's Angel, in the picture below, with me on her back. It's been a very long time since I've ridden.

I will especially miss "Mr. Bunn." I had a great time with her, playing, editing, laughing (we did a lot of that!) She also helped me as I replaced 'weak' verbs in my manuscript. She has a sharp mind a lovely smile.

Once I have my contract, Bryan Davis and I plan to book tour together. I look forward to that very much. Now I must sign off. Tomorrow is another eight hours of driving to GA (and I'm on Central Time so I'll be losing an hour) . . . and I have an important meeting with Dan Penwell at AMG Publishers.

It looks like you've had a lovely time. Been praying lots the last couple days, knowing you'd be gearing up for another drive. I'm so glad your stay was so delightful. The Davis Family seem to be very nice.
Safe traveling...Kelley

I'm so happy you had such a great time there! It's not hard to feel blessed by the Davis family, and it happens to me all of the time :)

Good luck at your meeting with AMG!!! I leave tomorrow to fly up to Michigan to visit some friends, and I'm going to bring your book with me to read on the plane :)

LOL Brian, I told you I rode the horse! Not my fault the opportunity came my way!

Thanks for the prayers, Kelley! My drive to GA went smoothly.

Connie, I already miss the Davis's terribly.

I'm glad you'll be reading my book. I hope you really enjoy it! Be sure to let me know what you think of it (:

Brian - Don't you know great opportunities are supposed to go to the oldest first. It's part of our heritage. Now, if you're really jealous, I could possibly hook you up you know.... :-) We can discuss it. (Scott's had his turn, so there shouldn't be any rivalry. (-: )

Did you miss them before you even left? I know that's what happens to me...

I'm sure I will enjoy it very much. I have read the first 6 chapters before, and I enjoyed them. And knowing that you've been tutored by the great Bryan Davis - it has to be good! Good luck!!

Yeah, Connie, I think I know what you mean by missing them before you left. We became close in a short space of time.

But on the bright side, Bryan told me and told the publisher that he would like to go on book tour with me when my novel is published. So, in the future, I'll be seeing a lot more of them!

Yay! That'll be awesome! Then maybe I'll finally get a chance to meet you!!!

WELCOME TO THE WRITING SITE OF SCOTT APPLETON

"Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones." -Proverbs 16:24

In a world where morality is forsaken and Christ neglected, wholesome books are uncommon. The themes of my writing are love, self-sacrifice, and honor.

I see my generation turning from God to the gods of this world. I see homes torn apart in the pursuit of pleasure and self-gratification. Children are murdered by the millions every year . . . without ever seeing the world outside their mothers' wombs. Through fiction I strive to encourage those who are willing, to stand against these things and be heroes and heroines; chivalrous, gentle, full of righteous indignation, and the fear and love of their Creator.
